Men’s chest wax – minimal hair

Music by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillait / Song name “Lucky”

To perform a men’s chest wax, you will need the following:

warm wax (professional brand), wax pot warmer, tongue depressor sticks, wax strips, baby powder (or corn starch), grapeseed oil (or any body oil), after wax lotion and an aloe vera gel.

Start by getting your client to lay down on a massage bed covered in a sheet to protect it from any wax that may fall on it. Then make sure your wax is at a warm temperature so that it can glide easily over your client’s skin. Apply a baby powder (corn starch works too) to the hair as this will help adhere the wax to the hair and not the skin.

Grab your tongue depressor stick and dip it in the wax and apply it directly over the hair going in the direction with the hair growth. With your wax strip, apply it over the wax and leave enough space at the end of the strip for you to have a good hold of it. When ready, remove the wax strip going in the opposite direction of the hair growth making sure to stay as close to the skin (parallel) and as fast as you can. The faster and closer you stay to the skin, the less pain this will cause. If you remove the wax strip slowly and pull the skin upwards, it will hurt your client and probably bruise their skin. Apply a firm pressure after you have removed the wax strip. This will relieve some of the initial pain. Keep waxing your client until all of the hair is gone.

To remove any excess wax that may have been left behind, use an oil (like grapeseed, or a body oil) until there is no stickiness left. You can apply an aloe vera gel to soothe your client’s skin or lotion up with a hemp seed lotion (or your choice). For extra care, apply an ingrown hair/razor bumps specialty formula lotion (like a PBH)…

Mens Back Waxing… Even on Vacation!!

Categories: entertainment, friends & family, general, health & beauty, sports & recreation, travel, vancouver, vancouver mobile makeup artist, weatherTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Author: mika

During a short vacation away from the busy city of Vancouver, while up at http://www.islandcottage-bc.com, I ended up doing a men’s back wax. Before I start, I prep the skin with a powder to soak up any oils or sweat… Then I apply the warm depilatory wax directly on the skin with the hair growth. I apply a wax strip on top of the wax that I just applied on the skin leaving enough room on the bottom of the strip so I can grab onto it. When my client is ready I grab a piece of the wax strip tightly, then pull super fast on a parallel angle against the hair growth. The faster the better. I apply pressure directly after I remove the strip to relieve some of the pain that may be present. I apply a moisturizing oil to remove any excess wax, then a post wax gel to soothe the skin.

It’s not recommended to combine wax and sun, although I still waxed my client’s back since I had permission from him to do it on the dock outside. Please do not try this at home!

Here are a couple pics snapped from my vacation, while doing a men’s back wax:

My handy ZUCA Makeup traincase from MAC

My lovely bf had recently bought me the ever so handy makeup traincase from ZÜCA designed especially for MAC. My ZÜCA is an AMAZING piece of equipment for my makeup trade!! I can haul around ALL of my makeup in it and it has 2 (rollerblade) wheels on both sides so I can also pull it up stairs! It has ample storage room in each of its 4 stackable and removable plastic see-through/fabric trays with high visibility to easily organize and access my makeup items… It also has plenty of spacious side compartments for my portfolio, camera, makeup-brush toolbelt, eyelashes, cell phone or anything else that I need quick access to!

The case dimensions: 19 3/8″ x 15 1/2″ x 13 1/8″. It is even slim enough to fit in overhead compartments and through the aisles of most commercial aircraft! When I need to rest, my ZÜCA doubles as a chair with a back rest held by a super-strong aluminum frame that holds up to 300lbs!! It retails for a quick $335 at any MAC across the lower mainland and is well worth every penny, (thanks to JAY!) Unfortunately, I couldn’t even get my MAC Pro discount on this item if I tried since it is not an original MAC product.

I can’t even imagine how I worked without my ZÜCA in the past. I was packing and unpacking 2 or 3 separate silver train cases and lugging them around with me to each job I had. It was so annoying and tedious! Now that I have my ZÜCA I actually WANT to drag it out with me on every job, big or small which simplifies my business life and saves so much time! I absolutely love my ZÜCA!
