Nanoblur – A review by Faye Smith Makeup Artist on Mika Does Makeup

Categories: esthetics, health & beauty, makeup, mika, spa, trends, vancouverTags: , , , , , Author: mika

Nanoblur is used on me in this short video review by Faye Smith. It feels super thick, and really tacky so you have to wait for it to dry. 4o seconds to be exact. You are supposed to look “10 years younger” but you really don’t. That is complete rubbish, although it does a good job at making your skin smooth and tight. You can mix the Nanoblur with your moisturizer as it is NOT hydrating at all or apply it after you apply your moisturizer. The Nanoblur can also be mixed with your regular foundation or be used before your foundation. It got flaky when we applied the foundation directly onto the Nanoblur so it’s probably best to mix it together. I don’t think I will purchase this product over my usual primer but everyone’s skin is different so I suggest you try it out yourself.

MAC Haute & Naughty Mascara is almost as good as my all time fave mascara: Voluminous by L’oreal. It is more unique though because of its 2 different wands out of the same opening… Quite amazing actually, I’ve never seen anything like it. I used the hot pink wand first, because it has a lighter application. Then I used the purple sparkly wand for a heavier application. I curled my eyelashes a few times in between once my lashes were dry. I believe this is is MAC’s best mascara. Try it out if you want sexy eyelashes!

My inspiration for this makeup look was a Japanese fashion magazine I picked up while in Japan… I loved the styles of makeup in the magazine… lots of bright pink cheeks, pink lips and defined liner around the eyes with lots of lashes on the top lashline and the bottom lashline… White eyeliner to rim the water line.

This is a video blog review on a super intense green nail polish called “green scene” made by CND. I purchased it at Secret Beauty Supply Store in Burnaby for $6… You have to make sure to use a base coat first with this potent polish so it doesn’t stain your nails green! I have never heard of them until last week but they have a great variety of bright fun shades so check it out if you ever get the chance! Fabulous shades that are perfect for this summer!

I have been getting asked a lot how I did my hair this way… So watch and you will see!!

These “summer beach waves” were created with a 1 inch ceramic curler from Babyliss Pro, which I got from a beauty supply store in Vancouver. It took me under 10 minutes and I didn’t need any hairspray because I want a soft, wavey look.

Using all MAC makeup products, I created this light and fun look. SPF 20 gradual tan for medium to dark skintones from Jergens, then SPF tinted moisturizer in beige to prep my skin. Then I concealed my redness and dark circles before powdering under my eyes and on my T-zone… just in case it gets super hot out there! You don’t want to sweat off your makeup or get oily! Then a dark mineral powder all over with a fat fluffy brush for a bronzed look and a shimmer highlight lustre drops… and a highlighting powder on top of the drops to set everything. I used a light green shade stick (limited from MAC) and applied it to my shadow crease, then blended it in and then added a light green eyeshadow on top of the shade stick so the shadow wouldn’t move even in the most sweltering heat. I applied an orange eyeshadow on my outer lower lashline and a light blue liner over that.
I added a pink blush… Curled my lashes, added WATERPROOF MASCARA… put on a pink lipstick, then dabbed most of it off and applied a light SPF 12 lipgloss on top.
