How to Apply Individual Cluster False Eyelashes by Mika Does Makeup

Hello, I’m Mika from MikaDoesMakeup.Com and I’ll be showing you how to apply Individual Cluster False Eyelashes on my lovely model, Parsuoa. First you pick up your Individual Cluster False Eyelashes from the loose end with a pair of tweezers (I used QUO). Then you will lightly dip the gathered part of the Eyelashes into some DUO Eyelash Glue. Let it stand for about 20 seconds before applying the Individual Cluster False Eyelash directly above the natural eyelash line. Then repeat until the eye is full of lashes to your desire. VOILA!!!!

How to apply Anime or Japanimation Makeup

At a recent photoshoot I was asked by Hair Stylist, Candy if I could do an “Anime Makeup” on her. At first I wanted to say No, since I have never done this style of makeup before. Then she showed me a picture of an example which I studied for a minute and decided I could obviously do this “Anime” or “Japanimation” makeup look…

So, while I waited for my other model to finish her 1st makeup look, I practiced applying Anime Makeup on Candy. (For the remainder of the session the model will have to keep her eyes closed…) I started by priming her entire eyelid with MAC’s Bare Study Paint Pot. Then with a lip brush I started brushing on MAC’s Blacktrax Gel Fluidline on her eyelid in the shape of a black oval, leaving  the inner corner and outer corner untouched, as well as a small circle and an even smaller dot of a circle untouched.  I then filled the blank areas of her eyelid with a white shadow and cream on top. I drew the eyebrows in with the same black and winged out the outer corners to exagerate a large cartoon eye. I also exagerated the inner corners and the bottom outer corners to create a drawn on long eyelash look. For the “eyeshadow” look, I brushed on a bright pink blush from MAC called AZALEA above her eyebrows… Finally, I drew on a pair of arched eyebrows to make it look like she came straight out of a Japanimation Magazine…

The picture below is the example of just the eyes where I practiced the Japanimation look… Take a look!

Recently Jay and I went to rent double bicycles at Spokes located on the corner of Denman and Georgia which is at the entrance of Vancouver’s Stanley Park, and the Seawall. Spokes is the biggest and longest running (since 1938) bike rental that Vancouver has… Check out their website http://www.vancouverbikerental.com, or give them a call 604.688.5141 if you want to enjoy your day with the best selection of bikes Vancouver has to offer!

We had so much fun riding the double bikes along the seawall, although it wasn’t the most beautiful of days, weather wise…

Makeup Trends for Fall 2009

Listen up Ladies! The new Makeup Trends for Fall 2009 are in!!

If you want to accentuate your Lips use bright, bold and rich hues such as orange, purple, fuschia, red or pink! Just remember to keep your eye makeup light and natural when using a bright lipstick shade. (Here is a pic of Scarlet Johansen wearing the bright red lipstick.)f3dd93b5e022d295_2009_prom_makeup_trends_2

If lips aren’t your thing… Put the focus where you want them! The trend colours for Eyes are rich, dark shades that include brown, green, gold and bronze…. purple is also a popular colour for the Fall. Dramatic smoky eye makeup is still trendy so make sure you have a black kohl eye liner to rim your eyes! For a little more emphasize on your eyes, add a little bit of sparkle or metallic eyeshadow to your look! Once again, if you’re wearing heavy eye makeup, don’t outweigh your look with a heavy lip colour. Wear a nude lip or a plain gloss if you’re doing a smoky eye so your overall look isn’t so overwhelming or “trampy”! Here is a pic with emphasize on the eyes…falleyeshadow

For Nails, dark purple, gold and bronze hues are a hot commodity!

Leave your Eyebrows alone!! The natural look is back so don’t over-tweeze!

Looks for Hair include long flowing hair looking big, volumized and sexy, mermaid waves (1940′s waves), as well as the sleek and straight. Here are a few examples:2009straighthairstyle2009flowinghairstyle2009waveshairstyle

Mens Back Waxing… Even on Vacation!!

During a short vacation away from the busy city of Vancouver, while up at http://www.islandcottage-bc.com, I ended up doing a men’s back wax. Before I start, I prep the skin with a powder to soak up any oils or sweat… Then I apply the warm depilatory wax directly on the skin with the hair growth. I apply a wax strip on top of the wax that I just applied on the skin leaving enough room on the bottom of the strip so I can grab onto it. When my client is ready I grab a piece of the wax strip tightly, then pull super fast on a parallel angle against the hair growth. The faster the better. I apply pressure directly after I remove the strip to relieve some of the pain that may be present. I apply a moisturizing oil to remove any excess wax, then a post wax gel to soothe the skin.

It’s not recommended to combine wax and sun, although I still waxed my client’s back since I had permission from him to do it on the dock outside. Please do not try this at home!

Here are a couple pics snapped from my vacation, while doing a men’s back wax:
