Wedding shows are always a great opportunity to meet with fabulous future brides, so when The Studio Beauty Team was invited out to get a table at The Perfect Wedding Bridal Show, we jumped at the chance!

The girls packed up the car with some of The Studio’s staple decor pieces, along with some makeup products/tools and made our way to the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel in Richmond, BC. We set up our generously long table to showcase The Studio by MikaDoesMakeup in the right light and managed to do so in no time. When the doors opened to the 420 attendees/brides, we all had our own designated jobs… Mika applied complimentary cluster eyelashes on brides, while Leah Roberts gave full on makeovers and Faye Smith handled the prize draw and chatted everyone up and drew crowds around our table. We had lineups for long periods of time and everyone got a chance to stop by eventually… All the ladies that came to stop by were a pleasure to meet and we cannot wait to work with them in the future!

Thanks to girls of The Studio Beauty Team that came out! We had a fabulous time with some familiar faces and all of the other wedding vendors and look forward to working with them soon.

Bridal Makeup Trial on Courtney

Courtney is getting married on September 3rd this year and just got her bridal makeup trial done with me. She told me she likes smokey eyes, false lashes, bronzed skin, & light lips. I focused on her eyes because she wanted her eyes to stand out the most, so I made sure to highlight her browbone, then darken and define her brows.  I applied the usual (primer and moisturizer, concealer, foundation) and added a light pink lipstick.

Here is a photo of Courtney before and after.

Before & After Makeup Look on Nelly

Nelly is a regular eyelash extension client of mine so when I see her, she is lying on a bed with her eyes closed. This time she was sitting on a stool and had her eyes open (most of the time)…

Nelly decided to get her makeup done before her friend’s wedding in Vancouver so she didn’t have to do it herself. The makeup was easy for me since she is naturally gorgeous with high cheekbones and a fantastic complexion. I only enhanced it all.

As you can see from the before and after photo, Nelly only looks slightly different with a more even skintone and smokey eyes using all MAC cosmetics. I left her lips pale pinky nude since we worked mostly on her eyes with dark colours. She already has eyelash extensions on so I didn’t touch her eyelashes.  She is stunning!

How to apply Eyelash Extensions

This is a short video on how to apply eyelash extensions. These last up to a month, depending how you take care of them. The procedure, as you will see in this video is very intricate and detailed work which takes a lot of patience and a steady hand. I always start off by getting my client to lay on the massage bed and get comfortable while  I prepare the eye safe surgical tape. This tape plays a very important factor in the eyelash extensions because without it, you won’t be able to open your eyes! I apply the strips of tape on the bottom eyelashes to separate the top and bottom hairs from getting glued together.  Then I apply an eye prep solution on to a q-tip, and gently clean the eyelashes with the solution so the eyelashes are clean and the glue can adhere better. I then shake the eyelash glue, and drop a dollop of it on to my glass plate (this keeps the glue cool). Pick up your utensils and a false eyelash (once you have chosen the correct size for your client) and dip it in the glue… then glide it on top of your client’s natural eyelash. Keep doing this until you have covered all of the eyelashes. Once you have finished, dry the glue with an air blower pump, and apply a coating mascara (a special brand that comes with the eyelash glue) to seal the eyelash glue. Get your client to open their eyes and gently remove the tape. Have you client look in the mirror and see the difference! Hope this helped! Have fun…
