Angela and her bridesmaids - Wedding by The Studio by MikaDoesMakeup
Your wedding is just a week away – what to do? Here’s a quick Wedding Day Countdown for beauty do’s and dont’s.
Getting prepared for your wedding can be stressful, but it’s vital to have a beauty regime days before so you are feeling your best and looking better than ever! It takes time to prep, from mind, body and skin so be sure to save some time for this very important part.
7 days before your wedding – amp up your work-out routine. Go harder at the gym, go the extra mile, take the stairs, do a workout video… for at least an hour a day.
Avoid salty foods, caffeine and alcohol as this retains water and can cause major bloating, not a good look for a bride!
6 days before your wedding - take care of your skin. Get a facial around 6 days before your wedding to get a healthy, vibrant complexion. If you have sensitive skin, be wary of extractions as this may cause irritation. The Studio by MikaDoesMakeup offers a Biodynamic Facial – which is the purest facial you can get, suitable for even the most sensitive skin.
Also, make sure to pile on the SPF so you don’t get an unattractive burn or unflattering tanlines.
5 days before your wedding – start a gentle daily exfoliation regimen. A favourite product of ours is the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant with Lactic Acid, which is gentle enough to use daily. Exfoliating is important for your makeup to go on smoothly and to look the best in your wedding pictures, as it helps to slough off dead skin and clear blemishes.
Condition your hair with a good hair mask which helps to restore vitality and luster to your locks.
4 days before your wedding – get a brazilian and eyebrow wax! This is the perfect time to schedule in a wax – getting rid of those nasty unwanted hairs… Not a fun job, but is so important if you don’t want to have fuzzies in awkward places. Make sure your esthetician gets any stray hairs that you may not see in nooks and crannies… Sometimes you’ll find a random chin hair or a sporadic neck hair that you didn’t even know about! Get it taken care of at least 4 days before your wedding to avoid any redness or irritation that may happen.
Take your vitamins – calm your nerves and boost your immune system with Vitamins B and C, both are good to slow down the look of aging and are important antioxidants that fight off illness.
3 days before your wedding – get a St. Tropez Tan or a Spray tan. Book an appointment to receive a sunless tan treatment with a professional. It’s the healthiest and safest way to get that golden glow!
If you must tan outside, make sure you adjust your bikini top into the same style as your wedding dress – or go topless in your backyard! Shhhh, we won’t tell anybody!
Book a couple’s massage with your fiance to get your muscles relaxed and to relieve any tension that this wedding planning may have caused you! Plus, it will be relaxing and romantic!
2 days before your wedding – get a manicure and pedicure. If you’re choosing a regular polish, you will have enough time to dry and will not encounter and chipping. Another popular choice is getting a gel polish manicure and pedicure, which lasts for 2 – 4 weeks without chipping, cracking or smudging with instant dryness. Add on for only $25 at The Studio by MikaDoesMakeup! Get your girlfriends together for a spa party either at your house or the salon with food and drinks, for a nice chance to spend time with your wedding party before the big day.
Prepare a bath for yourself with calming bath bombs or bath beads which contain ingredients that have stress reducing and anti-inflammatory properties. Get to bed early and don’t forget to set your alarm!
1 day before your wedding – make sure to start the day with a healthy and light breakfast. There is nothing worse than feeling faint halfway through the day because you’re running on empty.
Allow enough time for your beauty prep – hair and makeup, getting into your dress… Usually you will need about 3 hours, so get your beauty sleep the night before!
It’s your Wedding Day – have the time of your life and make sure to breathe and enjoy every minute!
